Top Gay Bars in Budapest
Budapest is one of the most underrated destinations in Europe. Along with astonishingly beautiful architecture are excellent restaurants and a pulsating nightlife scene. Known as the Paris of the East this historic city has a great collection of gay bars along with cheap beers and cute guys. What’s not to like?
Habrolo cafe is a gay venue which is an ideal place for starting your evening with a few friends. It’s open every night of the week, hosts regular karaoke parties and is very popular with the local crowd – perfect if you want to get up, close and personal with the Hungarians. Funny Carrot is another little cafe which is open every day from early evening.
The Danube River is a stunning feature of the city and the Why Not Cafe and Bar is the perfect riverside location to take in the best views the city has to offer. It’s open all day for food or you can just pop in for a glass of wine while the sun goes down. Also located on the Danube is Gastro Bistro. This restaurant come bar has a fine terrace with friendly staff and very reasonable prices.
If you’re looking to dance then there are only two gay clubs in Budapest – AlterEGO or Garcons. The latter claims to be the biggest and most happening of the two. In reality, the venues are very similar.
Budapest is a little short on late-night gay venues but there are a couple of options for those who want to stay out into the early hours. Action Bar is a cruise club with an array of cabins and glory holes. It’s open daily from 9 pm. The other, and more popular, cruise club is Coxx. There is a minimum consumption which last time we checked was 1000HUF.
