Gay Bars in Singapore
Singapore is one of the most developed cities in Asia and is known for its thriving economy, swanky hotels and world-class shopping. Despite the myth, Singapore is a gay-friendly destination. The gay village is centred around China Town and there are many popular bars, clubs and cafes which cater to the gay community.
Tantric Bar is the most popular gay venue in Singapore. It’s open every day from 8pm until 3am, staying open a little longer on the weekends. The venue offers a little something for everybody. It has a bar vibe earlier in the evening before the music gets turned up and people take to the dance floor. They also have some of the most reasonably priced drinks you’ll find anywhere in Singapore.
Backstage Bar is another popular gay hangouts in Singapore. Sunday to Thursday they have great happy hour deals between 6-9pm and bar turns into a club as the evening progresses. If you’re looking for something with a little more style then head to May Wong’s Cafe. Inspired by the Asian-American actress, it offers humorously named cocktails in an opulent setting.
Taboo is the primary gay nightclub in Singapore. Covering 5,000 feet, this two-storey venue has a dance floor on the lower level with a chill out area upstairs. On the last Saturday of each month, they host a themed party featuring an international DJ. The club mainly attracts a younger crowd and is at its busiest after midnight on the weekends.
DYMK is a laid-back establishment. This cosy cafe and bar is a lovely place to meet friends and catch up over a beer, coffee or glass of wine and if it’s your birthday you’ll get a free cake if you call and tell them in advance. If you love a daily happy hour, then head to OUT-bar for the Hollywood inspired interiors and great drinks deals.
